After conducting extensive research in crop improvement and innovative breeding techniques, NSPL has developed a new concept to increase farm yields. This is achieved by using erect plant types in Bt Cotton hybrids that reduce the space between plants, thereby leading to an overall increase in crop density per acre of land. |

NSPL has promoted this concept through active campaigning including field work, field days, field visits and widespread coverage through press, hoardings, posters, etc. The integrated approach of lab to land/market, introduced by NSPL, has resulted in a large number of farmers adopting this practice. Today it can be said about 35% of the farming community has adopted this innovation, and about 70% cotton cultivation in India will follow this practice in the next 3 years. |
Traditional varietal paddy cultivation by farmers requires about 30-35 kg of seeds per acre. After conducting vast research and extensive in-house trials, NSPL arrived at a pioneering concept that drastically reduced seed requirement. This method employed only 10 kg of seeds per acre as the seed rate for improving yield, and was highly profitable to paddy cultivation farmers. Farmers were educated about this technique by using simple messages such as 2 plants per hill instead of 4-5 plants per hill". The farmers of West Bengal, Orissa, Karnataka & Andhra Pradesh have adopted this profitable innovation and have reaped good benefits. |
